Ana Dutina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2026

Nominator's statement

Ana Dutina is a product designer who approaches the design of clothing, accessories and textile products from a product design perspective. This young designer has developed a contemporary and strong authorial and visual expression. She experiments with various techniques, from handcraft methods she learned from her grandmother, to pattern cutting, weaving, fabric dyeing, as well as painting and printmaking techniques. Her work also emerges from theoretical reflection, and conceptually presents a feminist perspective on design and everything that design comes into contact with.

SKRPICE

A fashion accessories brand based in Sarajevo, focused on textile experimentation, upcycling, and handcrafting. Materials are sourced locally, more often in limited quantities than new, making every bag unique and one of a kind. The brand’s flashy aesthetics come paired with a sustainable ethic of recycling, reusing, and upcycling.

EMINA’S WEDDING DRESS
In response to the client’s brief for a structurally defined wedding dress suitable for a winter ceremony, initial concepts were developed through collage based exploration. An iterative design process, combining and refining selected elements, led to the final form. The garment features a constructed corset with integrated boning and back lacing to provide structural support and silhouette definition. A lightweight mermaid-style skirt balances the rigid bodice, allowing the beaded lace veil to remain visually prominent without compromising movement.

CENSORSHIP

Developed as a small fashion collection in collaboration with the IMPAKT collective for a fashion show in Belgrade, this project is grounded in the concept of censorship. Censorship, as an act, seeks to cover or hide anything that disagrees with general opinions and societal norms. By doing so, it aims to eliminate the space that diversity holds. After censorship occurs, we are only left with half a picture of what actually was. This is the key idea upon which the collection is based. Not one piece in this collection was made perfectly, there are holes, the threads are falling off, the stitches are loose, the patterns are asymmetrical, and the whole thing is very much falling apart. The imperfection of these objects, even though they appear pleasing and wearable, is what makes them jinxed. Every mistake that shaped these objects was made consciously. As a person of power in this context, I have decided to censor them, making them cool and appealing in a way that tricks the viewer to look beyond what is served before them.
